The Cliff Lee we signed back in December was in the house on Monday night. He’s been missing for a while, but decided to make an appearance against a hot Dodgers squad as the Phillies return home for the next week and a half.
Cliff appears to have found his command, and threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Dodgers. Lee had his curveball going, making his fastball that much better. This is something that in his previous few starts had not been the case. Lee worked his way through seven strong, scoreless innings and appeared to get better as the night progressed.
Cliff Lee has now won each of his last three starts at Citizens Bank park and has posted a 1.57 ERA in those three starts. Lee is now at 100 strikeouts on the season which leads the Majors. It seems pretty likely that he’ll surpass his career high of 185 from last season.
• Charlie Manuel – Monday night was win number 800 for Charlie Manuel for his Major League career (800 wins, 642 losses, .555 winning percentage)
Thanks for doing it with us Chuck. Congrats.
